Reading winger Paul Mukariu posted a very brief 'goodbye' message after his loan spell ended.

The 24-year-old spent the 2023/24 campaign on loan from Danish giants FC Copenhagen and scored six goals in 38 matches in all competitions.

Unable to truly stamp down a position out wide, regularly swapping with Caylan Vickers or Kelvin Ehibhatiomhan, he left supporters often wanting to see more.

The youngster, who can count Anderlecht and Antalyaspor as former employers, made the biggest impact in the EFL Trophy and won Player of the Round for the entire group stage after grabbing six goal contributions in the three early fixtures.

Posting on Instagram to mark his departure, Mukariu said: "Thank you for everything.HUMBLED Reading FC."

Reading's only other loanee come the end of the season, following Dom Ballard's season-ending injury in November, was Arsenal defender Zane Monlouis.

Making one five-minute cameo in three months, the central defender has returned to the Gunners' youth side following Saturday's curtain closer against Blackpool.

The futures of all out-of-contract players will be confirmed within the next fortnight, with question marks over the likes of Femi Azeez and Ehibhatiomhan.
